Kraków offers a broad choice of flights from the UK and across Europe. The drive to Tatranská Lomnica is usually around 2-2.5 hours, depending on traffic.

Košice Airport (KSC)
A convenient regional airport with connections through major European hubs. Tatranská Lomnica is around 1.5 hours away by road, depending on traffic.
Poprad-Tatry Airport (TAT)
The closest airport to the mountains and the shortest onward journey. Flight schedules are more limited and can be seasonal, but it is a useful option when a suitable connection is available.
Arriving by Train - Poprad-Tatry
Poprad-Tatry is the main rail gateway to the High Tatras, with connections from Bratislava and Košice and useful international rail options via Prague and Vienna. Continue to Tatranská Lomnica by local transport or a pre-arranged transfer.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
All of it!! Loved the thermal pools, the stunning hikes, the food, the skiing! Our guide Jan was fantastic and really took excellent care of us, going above and beyond!
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Be prepared for some long hikes, and very cold weather!! Hand warmers recommended!! However Jan would have tailored the trip differently if we had not coped well with the level of difficulty. The kids felt so proud of themselves!
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
We certainly enjoyed lots of local restaurants, used local facilities and learned about Slovakian culture.

We had an amazing time on our Slovakia High Tatras trip with our two daughters, aged 7 & 9. From the start, Petr was responsive and flexible, adjusting the price when we chose our own accommodation. Gabo, our driver, was always on time, safe, and friendly. Our guide, Andy, was fantastic with our girls and made each day enjoyable and informative. A highlight was hiking to a frozen waterfall, making us feel like real mountain climbers! Despite covid restrictions, Andy found alternative activities—even taking us to Poland for more options. Thank you, Andy and Gabo, for making this trip unforgettable!
We had a fantastic holiday, feeling refreshed with plenty of exercise, fresh air, and a lovely group. Activities were fun, varied, and great for kids and adults, with highlights like skiing, thermal pools, a winter hike to Skok waterfall, a BBQ, and sledging. Accommodation was warm and clean, though a bit cramped. Our driver was friendly and punctual, and transport was warm and reliable. Hotel breakfasts were great, and local dinners offered a true taste of the region. Andrej, our guide, was fantastic—caring, calm, and well-organized!
A wonderful winter holiday for all ages, with a great mix of activities in beautiful scenery. It was nice to meet other families and make new friends. Snowshoeing was challenging but fun, and we loved the BBQ in the woods—so welcoming! Skiing and sledging were a hit, too. Rooms were clean and comfortable, though a bit limited in relaxation space. Andrej was fantastic—helpful, fun, and great with recommendations. Breakfast was fine, with great local restaurants nearby. Strong boots and crampons are recommended for icy paths.
We all had a fantastic time and made new friends. We felt very lucky to be in the group that we had, we all got on very well. It was nice not to have too large a group.
We were very impressed with you communication prior to our holiday. Jan was an excellent guide, very friendly and was keen for us to have the best experience that we could whilst on holiday. The holiday appeared to work well as the members of the group appeared to be of similar fitness and ability (I feel that the holiday might not have gone so well if this were not the case). The activities were thoroughly enjoyed.
We really enjoyed our holiday. All the activities were lovely and despite my daughter not being fully well (had a cold throughout the week) the kids loved it. Our guide Dana was great, she really made us feel looked after. The weather was fine, albeit a bit warm for snow, but no one can help that! Go ahead and book it! Great fun, with variety. I would recommend skiing in Strbske Pleso – I found that a very beautiful location. Of course it helped that there was lovely snow that day. Children will love the adrenalin water tubes at the thermal pools. And do have a go at being a sledge driver with the dogs! It is quite exhilarating!

This journey is designed for active families who enjoy spending time outdoors together. We recommend it for children aged 8 and over; younger children may be considered depending on their experience, confidence and the make-up of your family.
The trip combines gentle to moderate winter walks with more relaxed experiences such as sledging, thermal pools and a family ski day. Most walking days involve around 2-4 hours on winter trails, and your guide can adjust the pace where conditions and the group allow.
No previous winter hiking or snowshoeing experience is required. Your guide will introduce you to the equipment and choose routes appropriate for the conditions, while Slovakia Explorer provides snowshoes, microspikes and trekking poles where required.
No. The ski day can work for complete beginners as well as family members with previous experience. Ski equipment is included, while lessons and the most suitable lift pass can be arranged according to your family’s experience and how you would like to spend the day.
No. Ski passes are not included because the most suitable option depends on your family’s skiing experience and how much time you plan to spend on the slopes. We will help you choose the appropriate option locally.
Winter conditions in the mountains can vary, so some activities may need to be adapted. Your local guide will adjust the programme where necessary and choose the most suitable option for the conditions, with safety and the enjoyment of the family coming first.
Dog sledding is not a guaranteed part of the programme. It may be available as an optional experience on the flexible family day, depending on snow conditions and local availability.
We keep our family departures intentionally small, typically with up to six guests. This gives your guide more room to adapt the pace and experience to the families travelling together.
The journey begins in Tatranská Lomnica in the High Tatras. Arrival and departure transfers are not included in the standard price, but we can arrange private transfers from Kraków, Košice, Poprad-Tatry or another convenient arrival point on request.
We provide the specialist equipment required for the included activities, including snowshoes, microspikes, trekking poles, sledge hire and ski equipment. You will need to bring suitable winter clothing, warm waterproof footwear and your personal outdoor essentials.
