Map & itinerary

Welcome to Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic! Our guide will meet you at your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, after a brief orientation meeting there will be time to explore some of Prague´s highlights including Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, The Old Town Square, or the 600 year-old astronomical clock. To really experience the beauty of Prague fully we recommend arriving a day early.

Hotel – Prague, Czech Republic

This morning we transfer 145 km to the town of Ceske Budejovice, the starting point of our 30 km cycle to the UNESCO town of Cesky Krumlov, a fairytale-like town. It is located on the banks of the meandering Vltava River, above which on a high rock stands a castle, with all of its original splendour. After check-in we have a guided sightseeing tour of this town, followed by dinner in one of the medieval restaurants.

Breakfast / Hotel – Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic

After several ascents and descent across the hilly surroundings of Cesky Krumlov, this afteroon we enter a much flatter region of ponds, forests and meadows, known as Trebonsko. The Trebon region is one of the most picturesque regions in the entire Czech Republic and home to more than 6,000 lakes, countless islands, mysterious wetlands and marshes, providing habitat to rare species of flora and fauna. Our home for tonight, the fairy-tale town of Trebon is a great example of the picturesque renaissance architecture, full of colourful houses. After check-in, those that desire can visit Trebon Castle or the Neo-Gotic tomb of the Schwanzenbergs, an aristocratic family and former title holders of the town.

Breakfast / Hotel – Trebon, Czech Republic

Today we experience the stunning sceneries of the national park of Czech Canada. We continue our cycling following the most popular cycle path in Central Europe, the Greenway that connects Prague and Vienna. Once again, a day full of attractions to admire; castles and chateaus, stunning nature, picturesque villages and renaissance towns. This afteroon we arrive at the stunning renaissance town of Telc, a UNESCO site and our home for tonight.

Breakfast / Hotel – Telc, Czech Republic

This morning we transfer by private bus or train to the small renaissance town of Slavonice, considered to be a hidden gem of southern Bohemia. Our route then leads us through the forest to the town of Vranov, famous for its stunning chateau, perched high on a rock above the Dyje River and the Vranovska reservoir, one of the most popular destinations in the summer months.

Breakfast / Hotel – Vranov nad Dyjí, Czech Republic

Today´s route will lead us through an area that, in the past, was strictly monitored by the troops during the Communist era. For more than 40 years Europe was forcibly divided into East and West by the "Iron Curtain" and the Greenway runs along the Iron Curtain trail. A point of interest south of the village of Artole, is a lookout tower once used by border troops. On the outskirts of Čížov there is a well-preserved section of the military supply route, including barbed-wire fence and watchtower. We will also have the opportunity to see number of military bunkers that the troops used during the cold war. Today’s cycling is concluded in the town of Znojmo which, due to its location, is dubbed the “gate‟ to Southern Moravia, following which we transfer 50 km to the medieval town of Mikulov.

Breakfast / Hotel – Mikulov, Czech Republic

Mikulov, located in a wine-growing region, is a town rich in history where the original beauty of its architecture, square and stunning castle have survived the passage of time. Today we ride through this stunning area. First stop is Valtice, the original seat of the Lichtenstein family. The Valtice chateau and its wine cellars stock the very best Moravian wines. A romantic landscape where history meets ponds dotted with water lilies, green forests with well-maintained paths, alongside magnificent ancient buildings. Next stop is Lednice, the „Moravian Versailles', with its splendid chateau, large park and gardens. After lunch we drive to Vienna. In the early evening we have a short sightseeing tour of the old town. To really give the city the attention it deserves, we recommend booking an extra night in Vienna, making it overall a nine day trip.

Breakfast / Hotel – Vienna, Austria

After breakfast transfer to airport. Fly home.

Enjoying a continental climate and notable for its low precipitation, the weather in Central Europe during early spring is characterised by chilly mornings, with average temperatures climbing from around 10 to 17 degrees. The weather can be changeable during these months.

Summers tend to be hot with temperature reaching 30 degrees + during the day and warm evenings. July tends to be the hottest month, with maximum temperatures of 35 degrees not uncommon, with occasional, yet brief storms.
September sees some of the most stable weather of the year, and although average temperatures drop somewhat, daytime temperatures can still be relatively high for this time of year.
