Lakes and reservoirs

The High Tatras mountain range enjoys numerous (about 183!) breathtaking mountain lakes (Pleso), tarns created through glacier activity, and characterised by their circular shape.  Velke Hincovo is the largest and deepest, other notable tarns include picturesque Podradske Pleso and  Strbske Pleso, and Morskie Oko.  There are also a number of reservoirs, including Liptovska Mara, a reservoir surrounded on all sides, by the commanding High Tatras to the north and the Low Tatra and Velka Fatra National Parks to the south.
