About
Steeped in legend, this area was once the stalking ground of the renowned highwayman-hero, JurajJánošík. Situated within a landscape of limestone and dolomite ridges, with deep gorges and canyons, as well as karst underground corridors and caves, this national park waits to impress you with its unique panorama.
The Váh River cuts deep gorges and canyons into the rocks as it rushes down the mountains to meander through the lush valleys below where, black stork strut along its banks. Forest groves of beech, spruce and fir grow along the valley’s steep hillsides, giving shelter to the brown bear, red deer and lynx.
