About
Amidst the wilderness of the Muránska Planina (Muranska Plain) Mountains lies the best preserved landscape in Slovakia. Inhabited only by foresters and horse breeders who live in harmony with their environment, this area is untainted by human intervention and its unchanging wilderness will amaze you with its dramatic beauty and mystery.
In a rugged landscape formed over millions of years by water carving deep furrows and valleys into the limestone and dolomite, the Muránska plateau is surrounded by steep, rocky hillsides and offering a wealth of karstic phenomena such as numerous abysses, caves, sinkholes and springs waiting to be explored. Its undisturbed territory makes it a paradise for rare species of plants and animals including the Lesser Spotted Eagle and endemic species which are unique to the environment of this area.
