The National Park of Slovenský kras, lying to the south of Slovakia along the Hungarian border is the largest karst area in the central Europe (440 sq.km) with the densest concentration of underground rock formations.  There are more than 1000 caves and abysses, which are inscribed in UNESCO's list of natural heritage sites.
